Palladium was discovered by William Hyde Wollaston at 1803 in England. It was named after the asteroid "Pallas" which had just been discovered in 1802. and from the Greek name "Pallas", goddess of wisdom.
The only palladium mine in the United States is the Stillwater Mine in Montana
Palladium is one of six elements in the platinum group, along with platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, osmium and iridium. These metals are known for being excellent catalysts, or substances that speed up chemical reactions.
